Get started in about two minutes
You do not need a tutorial marathon. Install, open, drop, export.
1. Install
Add Easy Background Remover from the Chrome Web Store. Pin it if you like — not required.
2. Open the editor
Click the extension icon. The editor opens as a full tab (not a tiny popup). That is intentional: brushes and before/after need space.
3. Wait out the first-run download if it appears
The first launch may download an on-device AI model. Let it finish. Later sessions reuse the cache. While it runs, the UI reminds you the work is meant to stay on your device.
4. Add a photo
Drop a file onto the canvas, use Choose images, or paste with Ctrl+V (Cmd+V on Mac). Supported types include PNG, JPG, WebP, AVIF, HEIC, and HEIF. If a HEIC decode fails, pick another export from your phone or convert once — the editor will say so clearly.
Very large images may process at a reduced resolution for speed; export still aims for full size. You will see a warning when that happens.
5. Check the cutout
Use the before/after control to compare. If hair, glasses, or a product edge looks soft or jagged, open Refine and use Add / Erase with size and softness. Small strokes beat one giant brush most of the time.
6. Optional: new background
Checkerboard is for seeing transparency. You can also preview a solid color, gradient, or background image before you leave the editor.
7. Export
Download PNG or Copy. Then New image if you have another shot.
