Reproducible exports with the same settings

“Same settings” for a local cutout is less about a hidden preset panel and more about controlling the inputs you can actually repeat: source file, review checklist, and export destination. Models can still vary slightly on ambiguous pixels; your process should remove every avoidable difference.

What “reproducible” can mean here

It does not mean bit-identical files across machines if decoders, color management, or model versions differ. Aim for operational sameness.

Lock the inputs

  1. Keep originals. Export derivatives; do not overwrite camera masters.
  2. Same decode path. Prefer one container type per batch when possible (for example all PNG or all high-quality JPG).
  3. Same first-run model. After the on-device model is downloaded, avoid mixing sessions mid-batch if you know a model update is pending (Why first run downloads a model).
  4. Same preview habit. Always checkerboard, then the destination plate (Zoom and check edges).

Lock the review

Use a written checklist so two people mark the same defects (Quick cutout checklist before export). Soft opinions (“looks fine”) create drift; concrete checks (“no gaps in the handle loop”) do not.

Lock the export

Mask resolution awareness

If preview and export disagree, you may be judging a downscaled view. Understand how mask resolution relates to what you see (Mask resolution vs preview size).

Practical team rule

Write a three-line SOP: source prep, QA checks, export plate + size. Easy Background Remover then becomes a repeatable station instead of a one-off craft moment.
